The one parents ask about
What is Scoutbook?
Scoutbook is how your child's Scouting record is kept. Every requirement they finish, every rank, every merit badge and every night of camping is logged there, and it follows them from Cub Scouts all the way to Eagle. It is free, and parents get access to their own child's record.
In practice you will use it to see what your Scout has completed, what is left for the next rank, and often the unit's calendar and messages as well. Leaders use it to approve advancement and file reports with the council.
Where do I actually sign in?
The current tool is Scoutbook Plus, at advancements.scouting.org (opens in a new tab). You sign in with your my.Scouting username and password — the same account you created when you registered. There is no separate Scoutbook password.
If you have no account yet, create one at my.scouting.org (opens in a new tab) using the email address you gave your unit, so the system can match you to your Scout.
Cannot see your Scout? Nine times out of ten the email on your registration does not match the one you are signing in with. Your unit leader or the unit's advancement chair can fix that in a minute — ask them before you call the council.

On your phone
The official Scouting app puts the same record in your pocket, and is the easiest way for a parent to check progress between meetings. Search for "Scouting" by Boy Scouts of America in the App Store or on Google Play.
